August August 29, 2010 - Luke 14:1-14 "Friend, Move Up Higher" by Rev. Paul Shoemaker, Emanuel Lutheran Church, New Haven, IN
We are to be humble before God, not thinking too highly of ourselves. God lifts us up and invites us, "Friend, Move Up Higher". At the heavenly banquet God invites us into His presence.

September 5, 2010 – Luke 14:25-35 " His Costly Cross"
by Rev. Daniel Brege, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Decatur, IN
The Christian's cross involves making our Christian faith even more important than our own family---which does not mean our families are unimportant. Because of the apparent foolishness of the cross, the world may behold Christians as incompetent losers, and regard them as worthless, only to be cast away. Christ experienced this first for us when He was crucified. His cross is indeed central, and He verified its importance by rising victorious; in Him our cross has already been carried.
September 12, 2010 – Luke 15:1-10 "Lost and Found!" by Rev. Karl Frincke, Concordia Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, IN
God rejoices - and so can we - when sinners turn from sin to God.
September 19, 2010 – Luke 16:1-13 "Using Worldly Wealth" by Rev. James Elsner, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Hudson, IN
"Use worldly wealth to gain friends", Jesus says. Sounds pretty selfish! But He has a divine purpose for how we use God's blessings.
September 26, 2010 – Luke 16:19-31 “Eternal Wealth” by Rev. Daniel Brege, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Decatur, IN
The parable of "The Rich Man and Lazarus" illustrates the sad scene of a man putting trust in his riches. Because of this, he failed to help the poor. Jesus spoke much about this sad scenario. Only through the Word of God can we trust in our Lord Jesus---and not in our earthly wealth---for everlasting life.
